Timewaster Flash: flOw

I just happened upon an unusual flash game that took an hourish to finish, and never got boring — though I knew I was in the mood for it. It’s called flOw and appears to be one of those evolution-type games where you’re a multi-cell organism eating single-celled organisms and fighting other multi-celled organisms. If you can’t figure it out, check the comments below. It took me about 20 minutes to really get the hang of it, and turned out pretty cool.

Here’s how big I managed to get my creature:

  1. Clicking makes your organism move quickly for a burst in one direction, eating the red-centered thing (which has a red-circled radar blip) takes you into deeper waters one level, while the blue-centered thing takes you a step up. On the flOw-logo screen there is only down, and on the pitch-black bottom level there is only up, appropriately.

There are several bosses, and you can skip past them by scurrying around the level for the appropriate red or blue centered thing to take you a step away from them, to grow larger and come back to take on later.

The longer your organism becomes, the greater insurance you have against surviving an attack. Likewise, eating the main, bright circles of a boss, reduces their strength, speed, and life. Once defeated they break up into single-cells that you can eat.
