Wasn”t the ELXON 718 is a portable bar code scanner for store inventory, You typed the product in and scanned the bar code to set it up, and the cup in the front was to hook it up to the telephone and download the information.
Remember the 300-baud rate, and you had to strap the cup over the mouthpiece? This was even before you put the phone in a cradle modems.
