Inspiring New Game Trailer: Mirror’s Edge

When there’s a disclaimer at the beginning that says the video is purely in-game footage, that’s a pretty big build-up. Either it’s gonna be a joke, or it’s serious. Well, it was a pun in a sense, being “footage” in the sense of foot traffic, but this peek into Mirror’s Edge does seem very promising.
It has a style of animation I would compare with a few of those “escape the room” kind of games, but with more fluid textures and the fact you actually see other parts of the player’s body. There didn’t seem to be any HUD or on-screen health stats, which may be tricky. Anyhow, check it out for yourself ^_^

For those unfamiliar with Parkour, it’s a France-originated hobby (whereas a sport would have rules, this has techniques and is generally a solo performance) not altogether unlike freerunning, of traveling on foot over nontraditional paths, mainly over structures and through terrain generally not designed for foot traffic. May involve having to do flips and rolls to land safely with minimal injury, probably requires good shoe and hand traction, and is very very cardio. Scaling walls, climbing up floors of a building from the outside, walking along banisters, leaping from the 2+ floor and landing safely, and leaping from building to building are probably among the more dangerous feats — which seem like fair game in the game trailer above.
